IdN Magazine: War and Peace

In this War & Peace issue, the theme is just clear. We will look at the work of six artists from different fields who have used their talents to spread the anti-war message by various means- through comics, movies, illustration, fashion, etc.

When you bear in mind that music, in the form of Christmas carols, brought a temporary truce in hostilities during World War I, it is perhaps not so far-fetched to believe that art could make people think twice about killing one another.

Creative City- Kuala Lumpur Small town networks, big city ideas
The Malaysian story, like that of many other developing Asian nations, is underpinned by change, and racing to become a developed global city.

And like many developing Asian cities, Kuala Lumpur is still in the process of becoming. Granted our aesthetics may not be quite as sophisticated as those of Tokyo, Hong Kong or Bangkok; there is, however, a genuine enthusiasm and intent to make a difference, push boundaries and have fun along the way.

All that jazz
From its birthplace in New Orleans, jazz music evolved over the last century as one of the most important musical forms of our time.

Many of the designers like to use their hard-won technical skills in an improvisational fashion, it has an obvious appeal: undeniably an art, but one that tends to place a premium on the communication of emotion, jazz is nonetheless still seen as something of an acquired taste, an intellectual pursuit rather than entertainment for the masses.
