Raymond Savignac

An inspiration for many artists, Savignac conceived his posters like graphic slogans, at once humorous and spontaneous, and some of them acquired worldwide fame.

Though casual in appearance, his simple linestyle contributes to a genuine approach to visual art. The Monsavon cow, the Bic schoolkid, and indeed all the characters Savignac created, travel through countries and eras with astonishing ease, and are just as compelling for spectators today.

Savignac's cast of inventions reveals the graphic world of a creative who managed to capture the spirit of an era that is now past but poised to spring back to life through his posters and illustrations.
